PLASTICS - The Plastic Island

Between California and Hawai there´re and island much larger than Spain, is called "Plastic soup" because there are a lot of waste made of plastics, increasingly. They become little particles, the fishes eat theirs and contaminates the beaches. Charles Moore discovered this stain in 1997 and he started to study it. There´re 100 millions tons of plastics circulating in the North Pacific, we only can see this stain by boat. It´s a problem because the birds can die intoxicated, the fishes that we eat have eaten this toxic compounds that are in this plastics sea that the humans have built and the government don´t help (is very expensive and is necessary technology, boats and a specializes crew)

PLASTICS - The relationship between the plastic and Halloween

Every year a popular feast is celebrated on October 31,  called Halloween.

Children dress up in scary costumes like zombies, werewolves, mummies, vampires etc.

In this event the plastics are very important, since the candy given this day are wrapped by plastic, containers which are carried candies are also made ​​with plastic and many ornaments are plastic suits like dracula fangs .

This shows that the plastics are very important because they are used just about everywhere.

You know that if you want to be scary this halloween, you should use this common material  that is  the plastic.

PLASTICS - Scientists break down plastics with bacteria

Through an accidental discovery, two high-school seniors from Vancouver may have found a revolutionary answer to the problem of plastic pollution. Miranda Wang and Jeanny Yao discovered a certain strain of bacteria has the ability to quickly biodegrade phthalates -- a major cause of water pollution from plastic. The duo presented their research findings at TED Active in Long Beach, using a Prezi-powered presentation.
Fast Company caught wind of Miranda and Jeanny’s discovery, penning this story about Prezi and TED, and how Miranda and Jeanny collaborated with our design team to present complex scientific data in a simple, yet highly informative presentation.

PLASTICS - What are the plastics?

The plastic is a material that is in all objects and in some types of clothing, before the plastic was very expensive and now though is everywhere. I think it is an essential material because otherwise most things would be different.

PLASTICS - The war between the nature and plastics

The plastics are the most common material in the life  of the people. But this is good or bad ?

 The man produces 300 million tons of plastic per year, and a part of this plastics  pollute  the sea .

 This produces terrible effects on earth and in the animals  of the ecosistem where they live .

The plastics are good if we know recycle them but  the most of the people don´t recycle the plastics, and this is terrible.

Can we live in a world with plastics but without pollution?
